Scott Hamilton's new routine is here!

Its finally here!  Scott Hamilton performed the program I choreographed live on the Today show!!!!  (I just found out after the fact, yes I yelled at him for not giving me a heads up!)  Not sure what he is calling it, but it is to “Everything Old is New Again.”  Here is the link:

Scott.

How cool is that?????  Now understand this was done at Rockefeller Plaza which is super small!    Good job bud, good job!!!

NOW, he will be performing this again in a “Thanksgiving Day special with fellow cancer survivor Dorothy Hamill.  The entertainment-based show “Kaleidiscope” will air Nov. 26 on Fox and also feature other prominent skaters like Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan.”  So look for that!!!  It is always interesting to see how a skater takes something and makes it their own with small changes here and there.

When Scott first called about this routine, I (the big prop driven man) immediately imagined a mad scientist who drinks his potion and keeps getting younger and younger...which of course means continual costume changes.  Ashley had a great idea with him ending in his Olympic outfit...haha...still cracks me up thinking about it.  After talking with Scott and realizing that “way over the top props” wasn’t the route he wanted to take, it really challenged me to choreograph the steps first with no idea about eventual props or complete story line.  The complete opposite of the way I work create my routines.  After mapping it out with a good base to build together from, I flew to Nashville.  It was agreat learning experience!  It was fun, exciting, and one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had.

Originally he wanted a wheel chair, but I pushed hard for the walker which I really like!  After joking around on the ice with it for a while, he came up with having a horn on it, and I see that he has incorporated it on his walker.  LOVE IT!  I look forward to seeing him perform it on a bigger surface with more practice time with it under his belt.   Till next time!

Be well,

Dan
